How it Happened:
It would take three minutes into the action before the first goal was recorded, but senior Shannon Donahue (Dennis, MA) would meet with success off a free position opportunity. Barely a minute would eclipse before junior Madigan Kelley (Bourne, MA) would add a second for Worcester off the assist from first year Fallon Lozano (Upton, MA). With just four minutes remaining in the first quarter Kelley would grab goal number three, this time with the assist from Witkowski. Seconds later junior Meghan Bowen (Westfield, MA) would record goal number four before the Falcons would record their first of the game.
Witkowski and Donahue would get the action started in the second for Worcester as the Lancers went full attack. Just under a minute later Bowen would record a second with Donahue again providing the assistance. It would be another minute before Fisher would find a goal with an additional assist for Lozano. Worcester would be awarded another free position attempt that they would convert for a goal from Bowen. Kelley and Witkowski would combine for further scoring action as Fisher found another free position goal before the half. A final goal would hit the back of the net from junior Kerry Brown and Donahue for the 11-1 halftime score.
The second half would find Worcester a bit steadier but less prolific in the goal scoring as three minutes slid off the clock before Lozano would claim number 12 with the aid of Witkowski, who recorded her 200th career point with the assist. A further three minutes ticked down before first year Savannah Botthof (Chester, PA) would record number 13 and 14 both with the player advantage. Also in the third quarter was another career milestone as Fisher claimed her 100th career caused turnover.
Fitchburg would begin to find some offensive life in the fourth but not until sophomore Kylee Fennelly (Weymouth, MA) would record the Lancers 15th goal. First years Audrey Rupp (Windsor, VT) and Ciara Reilly (Wilbraham, MA) would claim goal 16 before first year Meghan Heffernan (Westminster, MA) would close out the games scoring with just over a minute to go for Worcester to claim the 17-3 conference opening win.
