Auburn, MA --- Worcester State dropped a tough 3-2 setback this evening to Fitchburg State in extra frames. Junior Chris Wallin tallied a pair of goals while senior goalie Andrew Evans registered a career-best 50 saves in the loss.
Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior Andrew Evans earned the Ice Hockey team’s first weekly award as he was named MASCAC Ice Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week after he posted a 2.50 goals against average in a pair of wins for Worcester State.
Dartmouth, MA --- Worcester State overcame a two goal deficit in the final stanza to defeat UMass Darmouth, 3-2, in MASCAC action this evening. The Lancers used a pair of power-play goals to defeat the Corsairs on markers by senior Andrew Brady and Billy O'Neil.
Framingham, MA --- Senior Andrew Brady scored two goals and picked up an assist for three points to lead the Worcester State College ice hockey team to a 5-3 win over Framingham State in Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) ice hockey action tonight at Framingham’s Loring Arena.
Harrisville, RI --- Nichols defeated Worcester State 5-4 this evening in non-conference ice hockey action. The Lancers were paced by senior Mark Rintel who registered a goal and an assist in the losing effort for WSC.
Waterville Valley, NH --- After allowing just one goal in the first period, Plymouth State exploded for six more goals as they posted a 7-1 victory this evening in MASCAC ice hockey action. The Lancers lone marker was tallied by senior Mark Rintel.
Salem, MA --- With Worcester State up 2-0 midway through the second period, nationally ranked Salem State tallied eight unanswered goals to defeat the Lancers 8-2 in MASCAC action. Nick Tarani and Nick Asterito notched markers in the setback for WSC.
Westfield, MA --- Worcester State was defeated this evening 2-1 by Westfield State in MASCAC play. The Owls used a pair of second period goals to defeat the Lancers this evening. Sophomore Nick Asterito netted the lone marker for WSC on an assist from Mark Rintel.
Fitchburg, MA --- With the game knotted 2-2, Fitchburg State used a three goal third period to defeat Worcester State, 5-4, in conference play this afternoon. Senior Tim Stalmok tallied a goal an assist in the loss for the Lancers while Andrew Brady handed out a pair of helpers.
Auburn, MA --- Sophomore Pat Styckiewicz (not pictured) sent in the game-winning goal in the second period as the Worcester State defeated UMass Dartmouth this evening 5-2 in MASCAC action at Horgan Rink.
Foxboro, MA --- Stonehill scored a pair of goals on power-plays and shutout Worcester State this evening 3-0. Senior Andrew Evans made 39 stops in the cage for the Lancers in the setback.
Auburn, MA --- Worcester State lost to Framingham State 5-3 this evening to fall to 0-2 in MASCAC play. Senior Mark Rintel led the effort with two markers in the setback.
Wichendon, MA --- Senior forward Dan Drinkwater scored the game-winning goal just 2:51 into the game as part of a three-goal opening period that send Worcester State on its way to a 4-1 victory over the Franklin Pierce University ice hockey team in non-conference play at The Winchendon School Ice Arena.
Auburn, MA --- Plymouth State junior goaltender Erik Shields stopped 34 of the 35 shots he saw while allowing only one to slide through the posts to help the Panthers skate past Worcester State 4-1 in the MASCAC season opener for both teams this evening at Horgan Rink. Billy O'Neill netted the lone marker for the Lancers.
Fitchburg, MA --- Sophomore John Cahalane netted his second goal of the season midway through the first overtime period, lifting Worcester State to a 5-4 victory over Assumption College this afternoon at the IC Credit Union Shootout in the third place game this afternoon.
Fitchburg, MA --- Wentworth opened the 2009 IC Credit Union Shootout with high scoring action, defeating Worcester State, 9-4 at the Wallace Civic Center on the campus of Fitchburg State College. The Lancers will take on Assumption tomorrow at 1 PM.
