Conway, Kelley Lead ECHA All-Conference Honors

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team has nine named to All-Conference Awards that were voted on by the ECHA head coaches. Clare Conway led the honors with her selection as Player of the Year, while head coach Eliza Kelley was named Coach of the Year. In only the Lancers second season of competition they have secured back-to-back ECHA conference championship, defeating Anna Maria in both finals to take home the title.

Worcester, MA-It was a championship game full of storylines. A rematch of last season’s title game between the Worcester State University Lancers and the Anna Maria College Amcats. It was a rubber game, as the two squads split their season series a game a piece. It was a revenge game for the Amcats who looked to redeem their loss in last year’s ECHL final. It was a revenge game for the Lancers, who lost their first conference game in program history to the Amcats less than a month ago. The stage was set for an epic championship battle. And the game did not disappoint.

Worcester, MA- On Saturday, January 28, Worcester State Athletics honored some exemplary Lancer Student Athletes and an Alumnus in a halftime ceremony of the Men?s Basketball game versus Salem State. Worcester State paid tribute to the 2022 MASCAC Hall of Fame induction of Eric Swedberg and the participation of Men?s Ice Hockey player Max Roth for Team USA in the Maccabiah Games, where the team won the gold medal, and Women?s Ice Hockey member Clare Conway who was selected to play with Team USA in the World University Games.

Spotlight: Jennarae Bateman, The First to Tread the Path

Through the first half of the season, Jennarae Bateman has put up eight points including the deciding goal of the Lancers victory this past Tuesday night. A native of Forest Lake, Minn., she has come halfway across the country to join the first ever freshman class in Worcester State Women?s Hockey history. While Bateman is currently putting together a fine season on a solid squad, WSU was hardly on her radar throughout the recruitment process. But the risk of joining a new program seems to be paying off for the young forward in more ways than one.
