How it Happened:
The Wildcats struck quickly, scoring twice in the opening five minutes to take an early 2-0 lead over Worcester State. The Lancers responded with strong defensive play from junior Braiden Corbett (Matunuck, RI) and senior Brendan Lower (Grafton, MA), while sophomore Ciledson Segundo (Norwood, MA) and junior Dylan Verby (South Setauket, NY) sparked the attack. Goalkeeper junior Tobias Schneider (Hudson, WI) added several key saves to keep the match within reach as Worcester continued to apply pressure heading into halftime down 2-0.
The Lancers came out with renewed energy in the second half, tightening up defensively. However, a series of fouls—including a yellow card—gave the Wildcats extra opportunities, which they capitalized on with two more goals to extend their lead. Worcester created chances of its own but was unable to break through, despite quality looks on goal. First year Nolan Muncaster (Oakdale, CT) highlighted the defensive effort with a crucial block, but the Wildcats added a late tally to seal a 5-0 final.
Schneider would make eight saves in the game while sophomore Tyler Gallagher (Warwick, RI) would take the second half action for nine saves.
