How it Happened:
In a tight battle in the quarterfinals both teams traded shots and attempts. Worcester State would take the shot advantage with 14 shots to 10 but Westfield would claim the advantage in goal scoring with a goal halfway through the first period.
The second half saw the two teams again battling back and forth as Worcester looked to settle the score. The Owls found further offensive success in the second period, bringing the shot total to near equal between the two teams but junior Donovan Alfama (Douglas, MA) was a defensive wall. With just three minutes left in the second, the Owls pushed their lead to 2-0 before the final 20 minutes of regulation.
Westfield would push their lead to three just a few minutes into the third but the defensive wall would go back into place. The squads would again stay equal on shot attempts as each looked to further their goal differential. Westfield would find offense late as they grabbed two additional goals to claim the 5-0 lead. The Lancers would fight for a chance to find their way back into the game but were unable to overcome the luck of the owls as Alfama wrapped up the game with 29 saves.
