Worcester, MA- After hosting the Ravens at home last night the Lancers Men's Ice Hockey team (6-5-3, 1-2-2) hit the road for a Saturday night battle with the Eagles of Post University.
Final
Worcester State: 3
Post: 1
How it Happened:
Worcester was coming off a dominant showing over Franklin's Pierce where they came back from one down to win 11-1 sent them to Connecticut for a meeting with Post. Similar to last night the Eagles would score first about halfway through the first period. The Lancers would continue to battle it out with the Eagles, but were unable to capitalize on some key power plays to move through the first but the second would set Worcester up for success as junior Stirling Nash (Edmonds, WA) would record the tying goal off the help of junior Matt Nuzzolilo (Worcester, MA).
The second period was an even battle between the teams, but Worcester was on the chart to dominate offensively early. Slightly later than last night's offensive success, Worcester would claim the lead in the second off the quick shot of junior Spencer Heckinger (Denver, CO) off the help of junior Nicholas Weber (Woodbury, MN) and junior Michael Schaaf (Nashua, NH). In the final minutes they would claim goal number three as they would turn a power play into a goal with sophomore Cam Quigley (Wuincey, MA) scooping a blocked shot for a two goal lead into the second intermission.
The third period found both teams battling for position on the ice as the Eagles looked to turn things in their favor. Worcester would not budge though as they held off all attempts by Post to come away with the 3-1 victory.
Junior Donovan Alfama (Douglas, MA) would claim his second win of the week as he claimed 32 saves in the action.
