Worcester, MA --- After a 22-year career which included eight trips to the postseason, John Guiney has announced that he will be stepping down as head coach of the Worcester State ice hockey team.
Westfield, MA --- Junior Cody Osburn was distinguished with MASCAC All-Academic honors for the third time in his career as he underscored 11 other names who were recognized with academic laurels by the conference as announced by conference publicst Emily Diekelmann.
In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the ECAC, is presenting “The Top Moments in ECAC History” every Friday during the 2013-2014 academic year. This week the ECAC has chosen the 1973-74 ECAC Division III Northeast Tournament Champions who are celebrating their 40th Anniversary this season.
Westfield, MA --- Third-seeded Westfield State junior TJ Powers’ flick into the upper right post with 1:15 on the clock in the first period stood up as the game-winning goal in a 1-0 triumph over #6 Worcester State in the MASCAC Men’s Ice Hockey quarterfinals this evening.
Salem, MA --- Worcester State dropped a 5-2 decision to Salem State in MASCAC men's ice hockey action this evening. Juniors Taylor Laneville and Andreas Johansson registered the goals in the final regular season contest for the Lancers.
Auburn, MA--- Worcester State fell to Westfield State 5-2 in MASCAC men's ice hockey action this evening at Horgan Rink. Senior Derek Serbon and junior Stephen Rock netted the goals for the Lancers in the setback.
Auburn, MA --- Worcester State was blanked by Plymouth State, 6-0, in MASCAC men's ice hockey action this evening at Horgan Rink. Sophomore goaltender Salvatore Tecci recorded 31 saves in the setback.
Fitchburg, MA --- Junior Nathan Stanley sparked a two-goal uprising in the third period with one marker and the game-winning assist to help lift Worcester State to a 3-1 victory over Fitchburg State in MASCAC men’s ice hockey action this afternoon at the Wallace Civic Center.
Framingham, MA --- Framingham State doubled up Worcester State, 4-2, this evening in MASCAC men's ice hockey action. Junior Andrew Bates notched both goals for the Lancers in the setback.
Worcester, MA --- Assumption doubled up Worcester State, 6-3, in non-conference ice hockey action at Buffone Rink. Junior Nathan Stanely registered a third-period marker as he is just one point away from 50 for his career.
Worcester, MA --- Worcester State’s season has had its peaks and valleys. The Lancers hope they are on another peak in their chase for a fourth straight MASCAC tournament appearance.
Auburn, MA --- UMass Dartmouth netted two goals in the final stanza to best Worcester State, 4-3, this evening in MASCAC men's ice hockey action at Horgan Rink. Senior Derek Serbon registered his 50th career point in the setback for WSU.
Auburn, MA ---Worcester State sophomore goaltender Salvatore Tecci turned aside 42 shots to help lead the Lancers to a 3-2 victory over Salem State in MASCAC men’s ice hockey action this evening at Horgan Rink. Junior Joe White also tallied the match-clinching marker for WSU.
Westfield, MA --- Worcester State defeated by Westfield State, 5-1, in MASCAC men's ice hockey action this evening. Freshman Michael Dery netted the lone goal for the Lancers at the 16:16 mark of the first period.
Hanaway, NH --- Freshman Richard Bohan scooped in the match-clinching tally off an assist from classmate Taylor Laneville at the 1:52 mark to help Worcester State take home a 4-3 overtime triumph over Plymouth State. Sophomore Drew Case stopped 28 shots in the win for the Lancers.
Auburn, MA --- Worcester State fell to Framingham State, 4-1, in MASCAC men's ice hockey action this evening at Horgan Memorial Rink. Freshman Alex Dewitz and junior Andrew Bates each registered a goal in the defeat.
