Bohan Nets Winner In OT For Ice Hockey In 4-3 Victory Over Plymouth State

Hanaway, NH --- Freshman Richard Bohan (Pheonix, AX/Dallas Ice Jets) scooped in the game-winning tally off an assist from classmate Taylor Laneville (Edmonds, WA/Helena Bighorns) at the 1:52 mark to help Worcester State take home a 4-3 overtime triumph over Plymouth State in MASCAC men's ice hockey action.

With the win the Lancers improve to 7-7-1 and 3-6-1 in conference action while the Panthers move to 7-10 and even out to 5-5 league play.

Down 3-2 with 17:20 off the clock, the Blue and Gold found themselves with a golden chance after an elbowing penalty. Senior Curtis Martin (Okotoks, Alberta/San Diego Gulls) seized the moment and netted the equalizer for the visitors with 1:52 remaining in regulation to set the stage for Bohan's heroics in the extra session.

Martin received some help from junior Nathan Stanley (Meriden, ID/Idaho Jr Steelheads) and freshman Alex Taddeo (Franklin, MA/Boston Jr. Rangers) on the play.

After a scoreless first period that only saw one Plymouth State power play, the crowd was treated to a thrilling middle stanza.

Freshman Tommy Dowell (Olathe, KS/Scranton Knights) got the scoring started two minutes into the frame before Martin helped the Lancers use the extra main to their advantage with 3:15 off the clock for the 1-1 contest.

Sophomore Colt Smeltsor (Fairfax, VT/Boston Bandits) put the hosts on top 2-1 around the midway mark, but then Worcester State responded with 14:50 on the clock when junior Andrew Bates (Marblehead, MA/Boston Jr. Bulldogs) potted his seventh marker of the season to tie for the team lead with Martin.

Freshman Mike Economos (Crystal Lake, IL/Corpus Christie Ice Rays), however, helped the Panthers claim the 3-2 score at the end of the period as the hosts registered a short-handed marker with tick remaining in the period.

Sophomore Drew Case (Plano, TX/Northern Cyclones) stopped 28 shots for the Lancers in the victory as his record improves to 4-6 on the season. Freshman Max Motew (Highland Park, IL/Berwick Academy) drops to 0-1 as he turned aside 28 shots for the Panthers.

PSU was 0-for-4 with the extra man while the Lancers were 2-for-6 with the power play.

Both clubs will play MASCAC opponents on the road on Thursday. Worcester State travels to Westfield State for a 7:30 PM meeting as Plymouth State heads to Framingham State for an earlier 7:20 face-off.
