UMass-Dartmouth: 2
How it Happened:
It was a steady first half for both teams as the Corsairs and Lancers worked their way around the turf. Each team settled in quickly in the midfield battle, but was quiet for most of the opening 45 minutes on the attack. Worcester State would claim one corner kick in the first half that went sailing into the left side of the net while UMass-Dartmouth would have a few chances at the top of the box, but they were quickly settled by junior Kylee Elliot (Dover, DE) to hold a 0-0 tie into halftime.
The start of the second would see a continuation of the first until midway through the second the Corsairs found an offensive stretch that allowed two goal lead at the conclusion of the spirit. Worcester would switch their tactic to find their offensive rhythm and nearly get one goal back as junior Olivia Magierowski (Brimfield, MA) would connect with a golden chance, but it would ding off the left post and bounce into the defensive feet clear of the threat. With just over 13 minutes left, junior Jessica Forbes (Clinton, MA) would again see a near perfect opportunity but a diving save by the Corsairs keeper would keep the Lancers off the scoreboard. Worcester would continue to pressure, but as time clicked down they were unable to cut into the lead.
Elliott ended the game with seven saves in complete game action.
