Final
Worcester State: 19
Westfield State: 14
How it Happened:
The Owls would get the scoring action started early in the crucial conference battle but Worcester would not wait long to get their own goals on the board. Senior Mckayla Fisher (Peabody, MA) would begin the scoring while second later senior Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY) would tie the game up at two. The Owls would jump out with another two goals but Worcester met the challenge as junior Madigan Kelley (Bourne, MA) sank goal three and four for Worcester. The set of two looked to continue through the first as Westfield slipped in two additional with Worcester answering from senior Shannon Donahue (Dennis, MA) but the Lancers were unable to connect the tying second in the set to move into the second down 6-5.
Westfield would tack on a new score in the second quarter but Worcester would go on the scoring rampage as junior Meghan Bowen would snag a goal from Kelley before first year Fallon Lozano (Upton, MA) would record two and Donahue would add in a fourth of the quarter. Worcester would keep the scoring going as Fisher, Bowen and Donahue would each score twice more in the quarter to take a commanding 15-7 lead into halftime.
The third quarter would start with Westfield getting one more goal back but Worcester would again settle the score as Lozano to Donahue would make it 16-8. Westfield would grab goal nine as this time Lozano scored the goal off the assist from Witkowski for the 17-9, before Westfield would end the quarter with fourth straight goals to go 17-13 into the final quarter.
Lozano and Donahue would pattern with Fisher and Kelley for two additional goals with Westfield adding one additional to the Frey to claim the 19-14 victory over the Owls.
