News mentions
The 2023 season for the Lancers ended shy of where the team hoped to finish this season, with a second-round playoff exit. Despite that, there were numerous accomplishments by the team and players throughout the year that made this one of the most remarkable seasons for the program.
Worcester, Mass. - Worcester State Women’s Lacrosse returned home after three games on the road for a conference showdown against the Mass Maritime Buccaneers on a bright sunny afternoon at Coughlin Field. Five goals from Graduate Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) helped the Lancer conquest over the Bucs.
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Lacrosse team (5-5) traveled to MCLA (2-2) today to take on the Trailblazers after a dominating 15-1 victory over Wellesley College on Wednesday.
Worcester, MA- After coming off a routing victory against Emmanuel where they won 14-6, Worcester State Women’s Lacrosse team (4-5) faced Wellesley College (2-7) in an away game at Wellesley field.
Worcester, MA- Worcester State was back in action on Monday night looking to make it two straight as they played host to Emmanuel College in a Monday night thriller.
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Lacrosse team (2-5) faced the Bridgewater State Bears (4-5) today at John Coughlin Memorial Field.
The Women’s Lacrosse team finished with an above-500 record and saw many high-scoring close matches throughout the season. The team returns eight true seniors and one grad student who is currently killing it on as a member of the Women's Hockey team as well. This team is led by head coach Kelly Downs who also works as the coordinator of student-athlete support services in the athletics department. This team has many things to look forward to as they look to emulate many of the other teams on campus that have had both regular-season and postseason success. I took it upon myself to interview three of the players who will all be looking to make a big impact in the upcoming season.
Worcester, MA- On Wednesday evening, the Worcester State Women’s Lacrosse team opened their 2023 season, taking on Smith College in a competitive non-conference battle. The Lancers were defeated by the Pioneers 15-7 in a tightly contested battle.
