Katie was born in Boston, Mass... is getting her masters in Occupational Therapy at Worcester State... the daughter of Deb and Juha Puumala... has three siblings, Aleks, Erika and Jaclyn... favorite spot on campus: the Wellness Center... chose Worcester State because of the great opportunity to further her education and hockey career.

Before Worcester State: 

Katie is a 2019 graduate of The Winchendon School in Winchendon, Mass... where she played varsity soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse.... transferred to Worcester State after two years at Becker College... tallied 17 goals and 22 assists in for 39 points in 38 games for the Hawks... was named the Colonial Hockey Conference Rookie of the Year and to the CHC All-Rookie Team in 2019-20.

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team (12-13-1, 9-2-1) looks to complete the three peat sweep of the ECHA tournament in the conference’s final season of action before the teams move to the MASCAC for the 2024-25 season. The Lancers have won the previous two championships, defeating the Anna Maria AMCATs 2-1 in the inaugural season and 3-2 last year. This championship will see the Lancers square up with a new contender after Rivier (12-10-3, 6-4-2) defeated the AMCATs in overtime on Friday night in a 1-0 battle.
