Second Half Flurry Sends Lancers Past Colonels

With the victory, the Lancers improve to 9-5-2, while Curry drops to 3-15 on the season.
Emily Pavoni (Granby, Mass.) found the back of the net late in the first period to open the scoring and give the Lancers a 1-0 lead heading to the break. Pavoni finished a feed from line-mate Kiersten Erickson (Broomfield, Colo.) for her 7th goal of the season. She has now scored in five straight games, with seven points during that span.
Danielle Stein (Plainview, N.Y.) tied the game for Curry on an unassisted breakaway goal, her fourth of the year, with 8:29 gone in the second period, but Worcester State answered almost immediately, and then opened the flood gates.
Sydney Vautour (S. Hamilton, Mass.) and Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist during that four-goal spurt. Wozniak gave the Lances back the lead when she followed up a second chance on a breakaway attempt for her tenth goal of the season right at the midway point of the second.
Less than half a minute later, senior Gabby Petrisin (High Bridge, N.J.) scored her first goal as a Lancer, a rocket from the right point.
Vautour scored her second of the year on a shorthanded breakaway, and Amy MacGlashisng (Marlborough, Mass.) made it 5-1 when she scored her fourth of the year, assisted by Wozniak with just over five minutes remaining in the second.
Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) and Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) set each other up for insurance goals in the third period, both on the powerplay. Conway and Puumala ended the night with a goal and two assists apiece.
In between those two tallies, the Colonels pulled back a goal when Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.), who had assisted on Stein's goal, knocked in a goal on the third shot of a flurry of Curry players.
Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) made 30 saves in the victory, improving to 9-5-2 in the Lancer net, while Anna Langton (Zimmerman, Minn.) stopped 24 shots for Curry.
Curry is next slated to travel to Suffolk on Friday, February 4th for a 6:00 PM CCC game against the Rams. The Lancers are at Manhattanville earlier in the day, with puck drop set for 12:45 against the Valiants.
