How it Happened:
Worcester State started fast and refused to let up as they opened up their conference action Wednesday evening versus the MCLA Trailblazers. Junior Lena Waldron (Quincy, MA) would open up the scoring with the first four points with additional support from fellow junior Alana Smith (Chicopee, MA) and senior Mia Haynes (Worcester, MA). MCLA would find their way onto the scoreboard but the full team effort shown by the Lancers saw them hold the Trailblazers to single digits in the opening half. Waldron would record 10 points in the first twenty minutes with all but three members of the team scoring in the 50-9 first half score.
The second would see a well balanced and well paced Lancers as they set their minds to working the full court. An array of lineups hit the court as they continued to work out strategies and techniques, each aimed at highlighting a new player in a unified team attack. Each member of the squad put their skills to the test grabbing rebounds and hitting shots as they expanded upon their advantage. Worcester would wrap up the game with 50 rebounds and 14 steals with a team field goal shooting percentage of 50% in the 86-19 win.
Leading the Lancers would find Waldron with 13 points and five rebounds while Haynes would record four assists in the game.
