Worcester State Men Run Strong Finish to Finish 4th at the MASCAC Championship

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team travelled down to Stanley Park this afternoon in defense of their 2021 MASCAC Championship. The team graduated their All-Conference runner from last season but have been led all season by the strong racing of first year James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA) and his fellow first years, along with strong leadership form the championship returning core from last year headed by senior Ethan Goodreau (Spencer, MA). The Lancers finished the race sitting in 4^th in the MASCAC at the conclusion of the race.

Coming in just a spot spy of Rookie of the Year, was Riley, who led the Lancers with a new personal best time of 27:55.33 and a seventh-place overall finish on the afternoon. While falling just shy of Rookie of the Year Riley and Goodreau were able to nab top 10 finishes that puts them both on the All-Conference team for this season. Goodreau crossed the line with personal best time of 27:56.41 as the second Lancers to complete 8k race. Sophomore Matthew Talbot (Belchertown, MA) was the third finisher, crossing with a time of 29:47.46. The final two racers contributing to the team score of 92, were first years Will Demers, at a time of 29:53.76, and Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA) who crossed with a time of 30:33.60.

The additional runners who completed the championship run are senior Elias Boone (Littleton, MA), 30:39.50, first year Alexander Matsuyasu (Newton, MA), 30:44.46, senior Daniel Clark (Worcester, MA), 31:12.48, and first year Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA), 34:23.14. Additionally, first years Eric Ames (West Bridgewater, MA) and Andrew Stokes (Wilmington, MA) each ran personal bests at Stanley Park with time of 31:18.18 and 32:48.67 respectively.

The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team returns to the races on November 12^, when they head to the NCAA Division III East Championships in a bid to qualify for the NCAA Championship.
