Worcester State: 0
WPI: 2
How it Happened:
The game would burst into action under a constant drizzle with WPI capitalizing on a cross from the left, about six minutes into the game, that was cleared by junior keeper Tobias Schneider (Hudson, WI) but recollected by the Engineers with a ding off the post, sneaking behind the pressure for the early lead. An hour weather delay would see the teams come back onto the pitch looking to regain their rhythm. With a distinct energy change after the delay, both teams brought the full feist as they looked to gain control of the action. The 39th minute would see WPI extend their lead after an evasion of a senior Brendan Lower (Grafton, MA) tackle attempt would send a cross across in for the goal.
The second half would make a strong start with each team charging down the field looking for attempts on the cage. Another passing storm would again put the game into a stall and turn soccer halves into a quarter game for this Worcester meeting. While both teams came out with high intensity another goal was not to be had in the final quarter of action as Worcester fell 2-0 to the Engineers.
Schneider made 12 saves in the action for the Lancers double long match.
What's Next:
Worcester State now sits at (0-1, 0-0) and returns to action to close out the opening weekend up north with a trip to Keene State on August 31st for a 1pm start.
