Final
Worcester State: 6
Anna Maria: 1
How it Happened:
Worcester would not start slow in their rematch as first year Katelyn Swistak (West Brookfield, MA) would charge down the field for the first shot five seconds into the action. While that goal would not go in, her second attempt found success after a pass from the Lancers second shot attempt of the game, first year Kaylie Ciccone (Douglas, MA). Worcester would continue to pepper the AMCATs keeper before Ciccone would score the second of the game halfway through the quarter. A final goal of the opening 15 would find the back of the net off the stick of junior Josefine Cloutier (Greenfield, MA) off the quick restart of senior Allison Keenan (Marlborough, MA).
Anna Maria would attempt to shift the momentum in the second quarter firing off two quick shots before being awarded a corner that was converted into a goal. Things would shift back into Worcester's side with eight straight shots, but the AMCATs were laser focused in defense to prevent any further scoring by the Blue and Gold until the final three minutes of the half. After recording a penalty corner, the Lancers sophomore Kylie Casey (Hubbardston, MA) would collect a rebound at the side of the circle and manage to slip the ball past the pressure for the 4-1 lead. A quick restart and charge after the whistle would find first year Abby Matta (West Bridgewater, MA) sending a slipped pass up to senior Kae Coleman (Attleboro, MA) who dodged the pressure for goal number five with second to go before halftime.
Ciccone kicked off the second half looking to repeat her hat trick success of the first outing against Anna Maria with her second goal of the game, off a rebound from the keeper's boot. No further success was found for Worcester in the third as they carried a 6-1 lead into the final quarter of regulation. Neither team would be able to make a dent in the scoreboard in the fourth as Worcester held on for the 6-1 victory.
Sophomore Lizzy MacDonald (Medford, MA) would wrap up the game with four saves.
