Final- OT
Worcester State: 3
Framingham State: 2
How it Happened:
Worcester State would jump into action early claiming the first corner of the game just two minutes into the action but it was swiftly broken up by the Rams. It would take just another two minutes of action though before the Lancers scored the opening goal off the stick of senior Kae Coleman (North Attleboro, MA) after a swift movement down the field with the help of first years Katelynn Swistak (West Brookfield, MA) and Kaylie Ciccone (Douglas, MA). The Worcester defense would limit Framingham to just one shot in the first quarter.
The second quarter would see a complete opposite swap with Framingham building their momentum early and scoring a goal just four minutes in to tie the game at 1-1. The score would revitalize Worcester who would wrap up the half with five shots and four corners but were unable to hit the back board to reclaim the lead.
It would take 10 minutes into the third quarter for Worcester to finally find their leading success as Swistak capitalized off a breakdown in the corner defense pressure to collect a pass from senior Allison Keenan (Marlborough, MA) for the 2-1 lead. Both teams would remain scoreless through the third but the Rams would tie it just five minutes into the fourth to put the pressure on the final 10 minutes for a win in regulation or another overtime battle. Neither team would be successful in regulation and the game would shift to extra time and it would be a hard fought battle but just over six minutes into the 10 minute overtime senior Charlotte MacGregor (Bellingham, MA) would collect the ball and slip it into the cage for the 3-2 victory.
Sophomore Lizzy MacDonald (Medford, MA) would close out the action with four saves.
What's Next:
