The opening set saw Worcester State dig deep after Westfield jumped out to a fast 6–0 start. Sparked by strong serving from sophomore Alexia Mitchell (Pawling, NY) and steady defense from libero Katherine Crateau (North Andover, MA), the Lancers clawed their way back into the set. Stedronsky provided a lift at the net with five kills and a .400 hitting percentage, helping Worcester close the gap late before narrowly falling 25–22.

D'Esposito led the attack with seven kills overall, while Thomason and Carter each added key swings to keep momentum on Worcester's side. Sophomore Kaitlyn Anthony (Gastonia, NC) notched an ace and four kills, and setter junior Michelle Iannacito (Bronx, NY) tallied 12 assists as the Lancers took their first lead midway through the set. Despite the fierce rally, Westfield edged out another close frame, 25–23.
