Burgio Named Defensive Player of the Year, Three Named All-Conference
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Volleyball team wrapped up their fall season with a conference player of the year honor and three named to MASCAC All-Conference teams. Senior Camryn Burgio (Quincy, MA) leads the award winners, being named Defensive Player of the Year by the MASCAC Volleyball coaches for her dominant performance all season. Burgio also received first team honors as an Outside Hitter First Team selection along with teammate sophomore setter Angela Colonis (Waterford, CT). The third honoree is junior middle blocker Maeve Cadogan (Wilmington, MA), who was selected to the Second Team All-Conference.

The All-Conference teams are voted on by the coaches in the conference at the conclusion of the regular season and were announced Tuesday afternoon.
Camryn Burgio led the MASCAC in total digs with 476 while finishing second in the league in digs per set at 4.29. She also tallied 167 kills, 44 assists, 41 aces and 23 blocks this season. During the match with Salem State, she had a season-best 34 digs along with two kills and two assists. Burgio played in 31 matches with 111 set appearances on the season. She led the team in kills and kills per a set during the season.
Joining Burgio on the MASCAC First Team is Colonis who has been instrumental in creating opportunities for the Lancers all season. She recorded 280 total digs and 67 kills and 430 assists where she ranked first on the team and second in the conference. Colonis appeared in 30 matches, with appearances in 108 sets on the year. The final selection for the Lancers went to Maeve Cadogan who was named Middle Blocker Second Team All-Conference in the voting. Maeve finished the year with 28 blocks and 52 block assists and 149 kills. Cadogan led the squad in both blocks and block assists to score a team leading 227 points. She played in 30 matches with appearances in 104 sets for the Lancers.
With the help of Defensive Player of the Year Camryn Burgio and her fellow MASCAC All-Conference nominees, Worcester State finished 9-22, 4-3 in conference, and advanced to the MASCAC Championship before falling in a tight match to Westfield State.
