Worcester, MA – The Worcester State Athletic Department and MASCAC BSN Sports Coach of the Year Kevin Cumberbatch are pleased to announce the release of the 2026 Women's Soccer schedule. The Lancers finished last season 10-8-1 and 7-1 in conference play to claim the MASCAC regular season title, ultimately falling in a rivalry battle with Westfield State in the MASCAC Championship.
Worcester is set to make a return trip to the Championship game and bid for an NCAA appearance this season, behind the determined leadership of seniors Amanda Cosco (Watertown, MA), Jessica Forbes (Clinton, MA) and Olivia Magierowski (Brimfield, MA). Cosco and Forbes were named MASCAC First Team selections this past season. "Last season, we had a really strong run and fell short, this year we are ready to continue that run and push even further. That experience gave us even more fuel for this upcoming season; it is giving us even more of a purpose. There is so much talent on this team, and we are adding even more with this incoming class" asserts Magierowski. "Every player is extremely committed, focused, and ready to make something happen. We know what it takes to compete at the highest level now. The standards and expectations are even higher this year, and we are ready to take on that challenge with full force. Every training session, every game, and every moment matters."
Joining the trio is a talented cast of returners partnered with a strong group of new additions to the program. "There's so much talent, dedication, and enthusiasm that's brought by each and every one of us, which plays a major role in our successes individually and as a team. We had an amazing season last year, and despite falling short, we have been putting in the extra work during the offseason to reach our goals of winning the MASCAC and advancing to the NCAA tournament" proclaims Cosco. "I'm so honored to be a part of this team and to be alongside captains Jess and Olivia this upcoming season! I'm looking forward to all the amazing moments this season has to offer and being back on the field with the team!"
Worcester State will open their season on September 2nd with a trip to Wheaton before hosting their home opener on September 6th versus Wellesley College. Remaining on Coughlin Field, the Lancers will welcome Clark on the 9th before the conference schedule kicks off on the 12th with a trip to Framingham State to begin a four-game road swing. The additional three road dates on the 16th, 19th and 22nd will find the Blue and Gold headed to Keene State, Mass. Maritime and Suffolk. Worcester will close out September at home with their conference home opener versus MCLA on the 26th and a meeting with West Conn. on the 30th.
October will again find the Lancers on the road, this time for a three-game stretch at Bridgewater State on the 3rd, Westfield State on the 10th and Eastern Connecticut on the 14th. Worcester returns home on October 17th to face Salem State for the team's senior night, before a pair of road games on the 21st versus Rhode Island College and the 24th at UMass Dartmouth. The regular season wraps up on October versus Fitchburg State.
"Coming into this season, we are hungrier than ever. We got a taste of what it takes to be champions with our incredible season last fall" states Forbes. "We are going to work extremely hard on and off the pitch to ensure we do not come up short again this year. We have a very talented squad returning for the 2026 season, as well as many strong new players coming in. We are a versatile roster and will not let anything stop us from chasing our end goal this season. August can't come any sooner!"
