How it Happened:
The first period would be a recap of yesterday's game at the DCU Center as both teams would attack defensively early into the game. Both teams would face penalties midway through the first and both would be successful killing the penalty and keeping the tight defensive game a float. Worcester would get a golden opportunity as the Amcats would commit two penalties and go on the 5v3 advantage. The Lancers would have some chances in the zone but Anna Maria would kill both penalties and then the momentum would switch as the Amcats would strike first and take the lead 1-0 going into the break.
Worcester, to begin the second, would commit two penalties early on putting their backs against the wall at a 5v3 disadvantage. The Lancers would pull out the reverse card and kill off both penalties and try to get some momentum to even the score. The Lancers would face another penalty kill and would be successful as both teams continued to struggle on the power play. Worcester would get another power play opportunity but would come up short again with an Anna Maria goal at 5:30 in the period as Worcester would trail 2-0 with 20 left to play.
Worcester would begin the third period on a 5v4 disadvantage but the Blue and Gold would keep their consistency on the penalty kill and would kill off another Anna Maria power play. Worcester would get an early power play opportunity once again looking to strike magic, but the AMCATs would once again strike and kill off another Blue and Gold powerplay putting the game out of reach for the Lancers. Worcester would be able to find the net as junior Katarina Precobb (Wrentham, MA) would get the Lancers on the board as sophomore Leyla Tiernan (Anchorage, AK) would snag the assist on the Precobb goal.
