Tiernan and Czerniawski Lead MASCAC Weekly Honors
Worcester, MA- After taking a commanding lead and control in the MASCAC top seed race this week, going 2-0 in the conference action, the Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey team has also had senior Kelsey Czerniawski (Chicopee, MA) named the MASCAC goalie of the week for the fifth time this season and sophomore Leyla Tiernan (Anchorage, AK) named as the MASCAC Player of the Week.
Worcester, MA- After taking a commanding lead and control in the MASCAC top seed race this week, going 2-0 in the conference action, the Worcester State Women's Ice Hockey team has also had senior Kelsey Czerniawski (Chicopee, MA) named the MASCAC goalie of the week for the fifth time this season and sophomore Leyla Tiernan (Anchorage, AK) named as the MASCAC Player of the Week.
Czerniawski finished with a 0.50 GAA, .974 save percentage and 37 saves in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. Stopped 14 shots in the 5-0 shutout win over Framingham State. Added 23 stops to take sole possession of first place in the 3-1 win over Rivier.
On the season, Czerniawski has recorded a 1.51 GAA on 431 saves and a .951 save percentage alongside four shutouts.
Tiernan netted two goals and two assists for four points in a 2-0 week for the Lancers to take sole possession of first place in the standings. Scored two goals and an assist in the 5-0 win over Framingham State. Added an assist in the 3-1 win over Rivier.
On the season Tiernan has recorded five goals and four assists for nine points.
Worcester State Women's Ice Hockey is back I action on Friday at 3pm at the DCU center when they host Anna Maria for the Women in Sports Day Game hosted by the Worcester Railers.
