Lancers Late Bid Falls Short versus Colonels

How it Happened:
The first period would see the Blue and Gold on the attack early on into the contest. Curry would fire two goals early on but Worcester would get an opportunity on the power play to cut into the lead but curry would shut it down, killing the small momentum for the Lancers. Worcester would get small windows on the offensive attack, but the Colonels held them scoreless in the first, leading 2-0. Senior Kelsey Czerniawski (Chicopee, MA) would tally 15 saves in the opening 20 minutes.
The second period would be a defensive battle between the two programs.The Lancers found numerous offensive opportunities in the zone, but deja vu would strike again as Curry would shut down the momentum. Worcester would snag another power play, but could not capitalize as the Colonels would kill the second power play of the afternoon. Worcester would also be on the penalty kill and copy the Colonels success. Curry would snag another goal late in the period to lead 3-0 after 40 minutes of action. Czerniawski would snag 11 saves in the period totaling 26 through the two periods.
The third period would have some fireworks as Worcester State would get on the board with 9:36 to go as senior Lea Gaspar (Chelmsford, MA) would be set up by junior Abbey Millman (Georgetown, MA) to cut the lead 3-1 off a quick power play success. Worcester would snag two power play opportunities going five on three but Curry would kill both power plays and the Blue and Gold momentum. Gaspar, late in the 3rd would snag her second goal of the contest, again off an assist from Millman, but the Lancers ran out of time as they would fall 3-2
Czerniawski would anchor the defense with 36 saves on the day.

The Lancers (6-8, 4-1) have a mid week battle at Utica next week, with a January 14th outing at 4pm.
