Final
Worcester State: 4
Framingham State: 1
How it Happened:
Worcester State would come into their first conference game with a week off the ice and immediately jump into a back and forth battle with the Rams. Worcester would lead the first period in shots with 11, and have two power plays but the Rams, with their eight shots and single power play chance would hold the edge into the first break with a 1-0 lead.
Worcester State would come straight out of the first face off in the second period, and before the blades could really get warm on the ice, sophomore Emily Johns (Clinton, MA) would receive the pass from junior Abbey Millman (Georgetown, MA) and pummel the shot into the net for a 1-1 game in a skater advantage opportunity. After killing an early penalty, Worcester went back to full strength and would nearly instantly score their second goal junior Madelyn Franta (Superior, WA) would slip it past the Rams keeper after a coordinated effort from junior Kaia Carlson (Denver, CO) and first year Princess Delano (Mountainside, NJ). Worcester would aim to expand their lead through some additional power play opportunities and would meet with quick success as senior Cailey Ryan (Acton, MA) would rocket in a shot after additional team work from sophomore Avery Ireland (Longmeadow, MA) and another assist for Millman on the night.Worcester would ride out the remainder of the period looking to expand their play, but Framingham would hold steady into the third.
Power play success continued for the Lancers in the third period as they recorded goal number four this time off the stick of senior Lea Gaspar (Chelmsford, MA) with some assistance from Carlson and sophomore Leyla Tiernan (Anchorage, AK). Worcester's defense was on point in the period as they pushed away the attempts of Framingham to work their way back into the game. Worcester would have chances at a few additional power play goals, but Framingham was locked in on the puck and refused to allow it to clear the goal line as Worcester claimed the 4-1 conference win.
Senior Kelsey Czerniawski (Chicopee, MA) would anchor the Lancer's defensive wall, wrapping up the night with 19 saves.
What's Next:
