WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Worcester State women's ice hockey team closed out their 2021-22 regular season on Monday evening, suffering a 7-1 setback to Williams College.
The Lancers (13-7-2) are the top seed in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) after posting a perfect 6-0 conference record. They will host #4 seed Rivier in the ECHA Semifinals next Friday at 4:00 PM at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.
Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) made a season-high 50 saves in the Worcester State net and Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) scored her 10th goal of the season.
The Ephs got goals from seven different scorers and took a 3-0 lead into the middle stages of the second period before Puumala got the Lancers on the board.
Williams (12-9) added four goals in the fourth period to solidify their win. They held the Lancers to just 10 shots on goal, and Amanda Lackmann made 9 saves for the victory.
