Lancers to Host “Math Madness” For Local Students On Thursday

Worcester, MA --- The Worcester State women's basketball team will be hosting a "Math Madness" event for local area elementary and middle school students this Thursday against Keene State. The event will allow local children the opportunity to enrich their math skills through basketball.

With approximately more than 500 students expected to participate form the May Street School, Tatnuck and Chandler Magnet schools along with the Forest Grove Middle school, the event is designed to offer students the opportunity to answer questions from grade appropriate math packets. The questions will engage the students in solving problems related player's statistics, scores, averages, court dimensions and other math equations.

The contest will tip-off at noon and the students will have the opportunity to meet and greet players from both teams following its conclusion.

Worcester State (7-5) will play against Keene State (8-3) for the first time in 23 years. The Lancers last defeated Keene State 69-64 in the 1982-83 season.

WSC is led in scoring by senior Reilly O'Keefe (Warren, MA) (11.0 PPG) and Kaleigh Charette (Fairhaven, MA) (10.8 PPG) while the Owls are paced by Kristen Degou (Newburyport, MA) (15.8 PPG) and Nicole Simmler (Oxford, MA) (10.0 PPG).
