How it Happened:
The first inning started with first-year pitcher Taylor Stuart (Sterling, MA) getting through the inning, allowing no runs, walking only one of the four batters faced. Stuart would log two strikeouts in the top of the second inning, once again allowing no runs. The bottom of the inning saw senior outfielder Carisa Andrews (Medford, MA) record a single to get the hitting started for the Lancers. Sophomore outfielder Laurel Field (Holden, MA) would follow suit and get a successful bunt to advance Andrews to second base. Next up, senior outfielder Bailey Tammaro (Fitchburg, MA) would record a single to run in two players to get the scoring started. Junior outfielder Cali Brouillard (Millbury, MA) would then hit a single to load the bases up with no outs on the board. Senior utility Emma Lapoint (Westfield, MA) would then get in on the hits and record a single herself, which would allow Tammaro to get to home plate. The next batter up, senior infielder Bella Gasbaro (Leominster, MA) would find contact and drive in Brouillard to increase the lead for the Lancers. Senior infielder Morgan Keefe (Dracut, MA) would then get a two RBI double, increasing the lead to 6-0 for the home team. The last hit for the Lancers this inning would come from first-year infielder Zoie Stevens (Claremont, NH), who would record a hit that would run in another player to end the inning with a sizable lead.
The bottom of the third inning saw Tammaro get to first base with first-year infielder Kate Johanson (Lynn, MA) recording her first hit of the game. Up next, Gasbaro would find perfect contact with the ball and launch a homerun into center field to increase the lead to 11-0 for the Blue and Gold. Next up, first-year infielder Anna Diggins (Worcester, MA) would record a hit of her own with first-year outfielder Olivia Pirrotta (Uxbridge, MA) would record a hit, but the Lancers would be unable to capitalize on the runners, and the inning would end at 11-0.
