Worcester, MA- After a dominating performance yesterday over the Falcons, the Worcester State Softball team (14-12, 7-3) moves out of conference for a rescheduled meeting with the Gordon College Fighting Scots in a two game meeting.
Final
Worcester State: 17
Gordon: 4
How it Happened:
First year Zoie Stevens (Claremont, NH) would start the scoring run for the Lancers as she singled to bring in seniors Bella Gasbarro (Leominster, MA) and Emma Lapoint (Westfield, MA). First year Ella Snyder would follow up the initial scoring with a double to center field that would score Senior Morgan Keefe (Dracut, MA). Senior Bailey Tammaro (Fitchburg, MA) singled right past the third base line to send across first year Ella Snyder (Jefferson, MA) and Stevens for a 5-0 early lead for Worcester.
The Fighting Scots would snag a run back in the bottom of the inning.
Stevens would again get the scoring started in the second as she would this time double to right field to score Keefe and Lapoint. Snyder would join in on the RBI fun with a double of her own to bring in Stevens for the 8-1 Lancer lead. Gordon would have an energetic bottom of the second recording three runs and cutting the lead to just four runs for Worcester.
That quick threat from the Fighting Scots would be enough of a fire starter for Worcester as Lapoint, who is chasing her career 100th RBI, would record her first of the day with a single to left field to bring across junior Cali Brouillard (Millbury, MA). Gasbarro would then double to left field to bring in Lapoint for the 10-4 lead. Keefe would close out the scoring action in the third as she would send the ball flying to left field giving Gasbarro time to cross for the 11-4 lead.
The fourth would find Lapoint record her second RBI, putting her eight away, as a dinger to centerfield would again bring in Brouillard. A Keefe walk on loaded base would bring in senior Amanda Adamuska (Dudley, MA) while a Stevens single up the middle of the diamond would bring in Lapoint. Snyder would then have a sac fly to right field to bring in Gasbarro while senior Carisa Andrews (Medford, MA) would single for the final scoring action of the game, sending Keefe across for run 17 for Worcester.
Junior Taylor Coonan (Grafton, MA) would go five innings in the complete game win with a single strikeout.

Worcester State: 4
Gordon: 8
How it Happened:
Game two would be a bit of a reversal of game one as the Fighting Scots would get on the scoreboard first, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first.
Worcester would begin to work their way back into the action in the third as Brouillard homered to left field for a solo shot. The fourth found a Gordon error at second base allowing Tammaro to grab the second run for Worcester in the game.
In a bid to secure the win or extra innings the Lancers began their top of the seventh scoring drive as Gasbarro would go deep to center field for a two run homer that brought in Lapoint for the 8-4 score. While the Lancers would fight, a double play would end their chances as they fell 8-4 in game two to the Fighting Scots.
What's Next:
The Lancers (15-13, 7-3) have a few days off until they are back home on Monday for a Patriot's day battle with the Bridgewater bears with game one set for 12pm.
