Worcester, MA- After a split battle yesterday, the Worcester State Softball team (2-3, 0-0) returned for a rain makeup meeting with Macalester for their sixth game of the season.
Final
Worcester State: 3
Macalester: 8
How it Happened:
Macalester would jump out first, capitalizing on an adjusting first inning to record five runs in the bottom of the inning. As the Lancers adjusted and adapted they managed to keep the Scots contained and without another run for the next two innings. The top of the fourth found the Lancers recording some runs along with their constant contact through the innings. Senior Bella Gasbarro (Leominster, MA) would start the race, while senior Amanda Adamuska (Dudley, MA) would help her to second. First year Zoie Stevens (Claremont, NH) would drop a blooper into shallow right that would put runners at the corners for fellow first year Ella Snyder (Jefferson, MA) to rock a double into center for two runs. Senior Camden Heenan (Webster, MA) would single up the middle providing Snyder the chance to cross home plate and cut the Macalester lead to 5-3. The bottom of the inning found the Scots returning the favor with three runs of their own, putting Worcester back to work to cut into the deficit.
The two teams would look for bases and contact but in the end the Scots held off the last attempting the Lancers to claim the 8-3 victory.
What's Next:
Worcester State (2-4, 0-0) is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they face Ramapo and UNE in their second to last day of action.
