Worcester State Softball Takes Top Spot in MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Worcester, MA- After winning the tournament title in 2025, Worcester State has been tabbed by the conference coaches to repeat as the 2026 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Champions. The Blue and Gold finished their season last year 27-14, falling in the NCAA Moravian Regional site to Eastern 6-4 in eight innings.

The Lancers ended the MASCAC regular season with a 9-5 mark and claimed the tournament crown. Returning for the team is Bella Gasborro who hit at a .390 clip with a .581 slugging percentage, 14 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 31 RBI, 26 runs scored and 10 walks to grab a spot on the All-Conference team.

Claiming second is Westfield State with 58 points and three first place votes while Framingham State finished in third with 52 points and a single first place vote. Salem State sits in fourth with 41 points while Bridgewater State sits in the middle in fifth with 39 points. MCLA claimed sixth on 26 points with Mass. Maritime in seventh with 21. Rounding out the voting was Fitchburg State in eighth with 14 points and newest conference addition Anna Maria in ninth with 13 points.

The MASCAC softball squads begin their 2026 season over the next few weeks with conference action starting on March 28.
