Worcester, MA --- Worcester State University is proud to host the semifinal and championship rounds of the 2012 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Tournament Championship at Rockwood Park.
Salem State defeated Westfield State twice, 6-1 and 6-2, to win the 2012 MASCAC Tournament Championship. They would be handed an opening round, 4-0, setback by Bridgewater State and come out of the losers bracket to win, 7-1, over Worcester State and 7-5 in the elimination game of the semifinals against Bridgewater State.
Westfield State won their opener, 3-1, against Worcester State before they handed Bridgewater State a 4-0 setback in the winners bracket semifinals.
Senior Katelynn Fanning (E. Boston, MA/St. Mary's) was named the MASCAC Tournament MVP for going 2-0 with one earned run allowed and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings including a three-out stop in the elimination game of the semifinals versus the Bears.
