Softball Defeats Lasell and Loses To Wheaton In Florida
Fort Myers, FL --- Worcester State freshman Melissa Beaudry earned her first collegiate victory in a 4-3 triumph against Lasell before dropping a 1-0 setback to Wheaton this morning. Senior Michaella Mahoney was the tough-luck loser in their loss to the Lyons.

Fort Myers, FL --- Worcester State freshman Melissa Beaudry (Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) earned her first collegiate victory in a 4-3 triumph against Lasell before dropping a 1-0 setback to Wheaton this morning. Senior Michaella Mahoney (Shrewsbury, MA) was the tough-luck loser in their loss to the Lyons.
Beaudry scattered nine hits and allowed two earned runs in the
triumph against the Lasers (1-5).
In the second game against Wheaton (7-1), WSC had a frustrating day at the plate as they stranded seven runners on base.
The Blue and Gold also had runners on second and third with no outs in the fourth, but could not push a run across junior reliever Lesley Warn (Portland, ME) induced a ground out and set down the last two batters with two punchouts looking to end the inning.
Mahoney was outstanding as she retired 17 of the first 18 batters she faced which included 12 straight from the third to the sixth frames. Wheaton finally got to Mahoney in the seventh as senior Marissa Hobocan (Shelton, CT) led off the inning with a single to left. With two out in the inning, cleanup hitter Nicole DeRosa (Greenwhich, CT) hammered a walk-off double to left field to end the game.
Worcester State will take St. Paticks day off and play on Thursday against Smith at 9 AM and Fredonia State at 11.
