Riley Leads Lancers at NCAA Regionals

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Cross-Country team travelled to Bowdoin to compete in the NCAA DIII East Regional in what turned out to be a perfect race day. The Lancers finished in 29^th place and 3^rd in the MASCAC behind the dominant performance of first year James Riley (Shrewsbury, MA). The Lancers edged out conference foes Framingham St. in the team score with James Riley crossing in 114^th for all runners.

Riley continued his dominance on the course finishing in a time of 29:14.41 to be the lead Lancer to cross the finish at Bowdoin in the afternoon. Riley finished just shy of advancing to the NCAA Tournament as an individual runner this season.  The following top four finishers for Worcester State were junior Matthew Talbot (Belchertown, MA) in 152^{nd ,} with a time of 30:30.24, first year Alexander Matsuyasu (Newton, MA), who crossed in a time of 31:28.70 for 175^th place and first year Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA), who with a time of 31:41.84 finished the day in 180^th.

Senior Daniel Clark (Worcester, MA) crossed the line for Worcester State in 184, just four second behind Lucier at a time of 31:45.60. First Eric Ames (West Bridgewater, MA) ran a dominant performance on the afternoon crossing in a time of 33:26.76 and found himself in 210 and was followed closely behind First Year William Demers (Sutton, MA) in 214^th with a time of 33:52.76.

Worcester State has concluded their season with nearly every member of the team setting a new personal best time during the season. The team will return to action in another capacity as they move into the Indoor Track Season with the first meets set for December.
