Speed and Strength Lead Worcester State at CGA Bears Invite
Worcester, MA- The Worcester State University men’s indoor track and field team put together a strong and well-rounded showing Saturday at the CGA Bears Invite #2, highlighted by sprint finals appearances, field event scoring efforts, and several personal grit performances across the distance and throwing events.

On the track, the Lancers were led by an outstanding day in the 55 meters from senior Seth Boudreau (Douglas, MA). Boudreau cruised through qualifying in 6.69 before elevating his performance in the finals, sprinting to a third-place finish in 6.59. He was joined in the finals by first year Sandro Merone (Weymouth, MA), who qualified sixth in 6.70 and returned to post a 6.69 in the championship heat to take seventh overall, giving Worcester State two of the top sprinters in the meet.
The 200 meters saw a competitive group effort, as junior Keenan Ansah and first year Kendrick Adusei (Worcester, MA) both crossed in 24.48 to place 10th and 11th, respectively, while sophomore Yael Lopez (Milford, MA) added a 15th-place finish in 24.63.
In the 400 meters, Worcester State depth shined through. First year Taylor Feliciano (Milford, MA) led the way with a ninth-place finish in 54.70, followed closely by sophomore Cole Berriault (Wareham, MA) in 10th at 55.22. Seniors Patrick Harvey (Holden, MA) and Alan Gomez (Clinton, MA) added solid mid-pack efforts to round out a strong quarter-mile group.
The middle-distance crew showed resilience in the 800 meters, paced by first year Ryan Wing (Barre, MA), who finished 15th in 2:11.36. He was followed closely by fellow first year Lincoln Schiller (Uxbridge, MA), graduate student Alexander Lucier (Gardner, MA), and first year Youness Chahid (Revere, MA), all finishing within a tight window of one another.
In the mile, Lucier again paced the Lancers with a 13th-place finish in 5:00.45, while Schiller added another strong performance in 5:02.59.
The distance highlight of the afternoon came in the 3,000 meters, where first year Liam Dietz (Longmeadow, MA) delivered a seventh-place finish in 10:02.45, showing impressive endurance and race management. Senior Alex Matsuyasu (Newton, MA) followed with a top-10 performance, placing 10th in 10:37.77.
In the field events, Worcester State found success across multiple disciplines. In the high jump, Wing continued his productive day with a seventh-place clearance of 1.67 meters.
The triple jump saw one of the top field performances for the Lancers as senior Kelvin Paulino-Acosta (Sutton, MA) soared to a fourth-place finish with a mark of 12.78 meters.
The throws crew made a major impact in the shot put. Juniors Garrett Papierski (Webster, MA) led the way with a fifth-place throw of 13.34 meters, while Andrew Lucier (Gardner, MA) added a ninth-place finish at 12.46 meters. Junior Kodie LeGrand (Tewksbury, MA) also contributed with a solid 14th-place mark.
Papierski was back at it in the weight throw, earning seventh place with a toss of 13.56 meters, while LeGrand added another top-15 finish.
The Lancers are back in action next Sunday, February 15th as they look to take the top spot at the MASCAC Championship.
