WORCESTER, Mass. - Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.), a senior on the Worcester State University men's indoor track & field team, has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the weight throw.
Vieira's heave of 18.59 meters over the weekend at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet ranked him 15th nationally in the event to become the only Lancer to qualify for the national championships.
It is Vieira's second consecutive year qualifying for the NCAA Tournament in the weight throw. In 2018, he finished seventh overall with a throw of 18.73 meters.
The NCAA National Championships will take place right down the road at Boston's Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday, March 9. More information on video and live results will be available later in the week.
