Men’s Track & Field Attends Springfield College’s Maroon & White Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Worcester State University's Markiesh Harmon (Leominster, Mass.) earned a 1st place finish in the high jump (1.89m) while both he and teammate Edward Boamah (Worcester, Mass.) qualified for Division III New England's in the long jump with a leap of 6.41m Saturday afternoon at Springfield College's Maroon & White Classic.

Harmon had a great day as he claimed the top spot in the high jump at 1.89m/6-2.25 and also qualified for Division III New England's in the long jump at 6.41m/21-0.5. Teammate Boamah also had the same marking, which qualifies him for Division III New England's as well. Boamah PR'ed in the 60 Meter Dash today, with a time of 7.23 in the finals.


Worcester State's throwers Eddy Acuna (Newton, Mass.), Marcus Vieira (Peabody, Mass.) and Jacob Roumanos (Whitman, Mass.) performed well in both the shot put and weight throw. Acuna marked 2nd place in the shot put (14.36m/47-1.5) while Vieira slid in 3rd in the event (14.13m/46-4.25). Vieira led the team in the weigh throw (17.93m/58-10) this afternoon, coming in 2nd.


Worcester State's mid-distance runners Marques Johnson (West Hartford, Conn.) and Jeff Davis (Old Lyme, Conn.) came in 3rd and 5th places, respectively, in the 800 Meter while Marc George (Framingham, Mass.) came in 5th in the 400 Meter Dash (53.25). Devin Luce (Milford, Mass.) paced the Lancers in the mile run, coming in 7th with a 4:44.62 time.



Next weekend, the Lancers will take part in the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Invitational and also the Tufts Branwen Smith-King Invite.
