Solid All-Around Efforts Pace #23 Men's Track And Field At Wesleyan Invitational

Middletown, CT --- Senior Robert White (Ludlow, MA) tossed a first-place mark in the weight throw (50-1.25/15.27 meters) while freshmen teammates Mamudu Dennis (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) and Caleb White (Charlton, MA) qualified for the postseason to help lead the #23 Worcester State men's indoor track and field team at the non-scoring Wesleyan Invitational.

Dennis scorched the track with third overall in the trials of the 60 meters (7.22) before he added the same place with a 7.23 as White took third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.87.

Senior Daniel Ross (Foxboro, MA) was the runner-up in the high jump (6-2/1.88m), sophomore Sam Weeks (Methuen, MA) notched third in the shot put (43-7.75/13.30m) while senior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) added third in the long jump (20-9.25/6.33m) and fourth in the pole vault (12-11.50/3.95m).

Senior Adam Pepin (Paxton, MA) registered fourth in the 1000 (2:57.56) and 11th in the mile (5:09.03). Sophomore Will Whearty (Walpole, MA) was fifth in the 5,000 (17:52.87) as freshman Ezekiel Kyei (Oxford, MA) and junior Shawn Seamans (Newton, MA/North) were inches apart for third (43-2.50/13.17m) and fourth (40-2/12.24m), respectively, in the triple jump.

Freshman Elijah Mawejje (Woburn, MA) and sophomore Rafael Guzman (Cambridge, MA) equaled fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6-0 (1.83m).

Sliwoski also placed eighth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.21) and 12th in the 200 (24.19) as White sprinted to eighth in the 600 (1:34.13) and Kyei placed eighth in the long jump (18-8/5.69m).

Senior Shaun Corum (Billerica, MA) recorded sixth in the 200 followed by senior Matthew Alley (Milford, MA) who finished ninth in the 60 (7.42) and 14th in the 200 (24.44). Mawejje (54.51) and sophomore Shane McKinley (Melrose, MA) (54.57) were seconds apart in the 400.

Senior Matthew Begley (E. Bridgewater, MA) chalked up sixth in the shot put as junior Mike Piantedosi (Stow, MA) was eighth in the weight throw (42-4/12.90m) and 11th in the shot put (38-5.50/11.72m).

Senior Pat Daley (Princeton, MA) rounded out the Lancer competitors with ninth in the mile (5:02.57).

WSU hits the track again next week at the Tufts Cupid Invitational as a warm-up to the MASCAC/Alliance Championships on February 14.
