Johnson, Gibson, 4x200 Relay Pace Men's Track At Wheaton Invitational

Worcester State Men Ranked 6th In Division III New England USTFCCCA Composite Rankings

Norton, MA --- Sophomore Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) took home top finishes in the 60 meters (7.02) and long jump (21-06.25/6.56m) as he helped lead the Worcester State men's indoor track and field team on Saturday afternoon at the non-scoring Wheaton Invitational.

Gibson also teamed with junior Ramses Rafael (Lawrence, MA), sophomore Stephen Gannon (Foxboro, MA) and freshman Jerome Drane (Uxbridge, MA) to eclipse a six-year 4x200 mark with a time of 1:31.93 that current assistant coach Mark Johnson set (1:34.37).

The 4x200 mark is currently second on the current ECAC Division III Championship standings.

In the field, junior Andrew Johnson (Thompson, CT) marked up second in the high jump to qualify for the Open New England's (6-06.25/1.99m) while senior Sebastian Bilentschuk (Mansfield, MA) had a toss of second in the weight throw to stamp his ticket for the Division III New England Championships (49-10/15.19m).

Senior Tim Mazeika (Millbury, MA) remains in the top 15 of the Division III New England standings as he placed second overall in the 800 with a time of 1:58.97. Fresh off his solid performance at the URI Heptathlon on Thursday, junior Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) added third in the 60 meter hurdles (9.02).

Sophomore Duy Truong (Worcester, MA/Doherty) was in the top eight in four events which included fifth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.12), sixth in both the long jump (20-00.25/6.10m) and 60 (7.20) and eighth in the triple jump (39-11.25/12.17m).

Second-year Patrick Bova (Princeton, MA) ran a season-best time of 2:04.44 in the 800 for sixth and junior Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA) posted sixth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.17). Senior Luke Curtis (Dudley, MA) had a time of 7.24 to claim eighth in the 60.

Junior Daniel Schumacher (Shrewsbury, MA) tied for fourth in the high jump (6-02/1.88) while junior Matthew Begley (E. Bridgewater, MA) placed fifth in both the shot put (43-02.25/13.16m) and the weight throw (45-03.50/13.16m).

Second-year Robert White (Ludlow, MA) had a throw sixth in the shot put (41-01/12.52m) as third-year Shawn McCabe (Mansfield, MA) finished sixth in the weight throw (44-10.75/13.68m).

Next week the Blue and Gold head to the MIT Invitational. Select Lancer sprinters will also run at the Boston University Terrier Invitational.
