Sliwoski Places Fifth In Heptathlon After First Day Division III New Englands
Springfield, MA --- With a total score of 2352 points in the heptathlon, sophomore Jason Sliwoski is in fifth place out of ten competators at the first day of the Division III New England Championships.
Springfield, MA --- With a total score of 2352 points in the heptathlon, sophomore Jason Sliwoski (Leicester, MA) is in fifth place out of ten competators at the first day of the Division III New England Championships.
Sliwoski finished second in the shot put with a toss of 10.86 meters (35-07.75) while he was also fourth overall in the 60 meters (7.49). He would end his afternoon tying for fifth in the high jump (1.75m/5-8.75) before adding ninth in the long jump (5.66m/18-7).
Sliwoski, who entered the meet as the fourth seed, is just 199 points off of the lead as senior Mike Thyden (Sutton, MA) of WPI is right behind with 2305 points. Thyden reset school record in the event two weeks ago.
The current school mark is held by assistant coach Matt Swett who set the standard at Coast Guard in 2005 (4,779 points). The top eight finishers in the event will earn All-New England accolades.
Results from the second day will be posted when they become available tomorrow afternoon.
