Starling Paces Men's Track at Tufts
Medford, MA --- Sophomore Nate Starling had a pair top finishes to help pace the Worcester State mens indoor track teams at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers tallied 58 points to take home fifth place out of eight teams at the meet.

State men’s indoor track team’s at the Tufts
Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers tallied 58 points
to take home fifth place out of eight teams at the meet.
Starling paced WSC as he qualified for the All-New England’s
with a first place time of 6.59 in the 55 meter dash (6.59) while
he also posted third in the 55 meter hurdles (8.19).
In the field, junior Jim Macera (Paxton, MA)
threw second in the weight throw (14.97m) and sophomore
Nick Capone (Billerica, MA) added fourth in the
shot put (12.60m). Senior captain Matt Leeds
(Bellingham, MA) also registered third in the long jump (6.29m) and
sixth in the triple jump (11.67m).
The Lancers were also led by freshman Julio Arzu
(Lynn, MA) who recorded fourth in the 55 (6.85) while classmate
Todd Paquin (Pelham, NH) was .12 seconds away in
eighth (6.96) in the same event.
Junior Robert Stahelski (South Deerfield, MA)
timed eighth in the 600 (1:28.56) and ninth in the 200 while
freshman Jon Parella placed 11th (54.96) in the
400. Starling finished off the meet with 10th in the 200
(25.25).
First-year Alex Droby (Uxbridge, MA) led the
distance runners taking eighth in the 800 (2:11.82) and 20th in the
mile (4:44.06) while classmate Tim Mazeika
(Millbury, MA) notched eighth in the 1,000 (2:53.37).
Macera capped off the meet with 10th in the shot put (11.56m)
while freshman Harrison McCann (Rutland, MA) was
right behind in 11th (11.23m).
The Lancers will hit the track again next week the Wheaton
Invitational.
