196 Lancers named to MASCAC Fall/Winter All-Academic Team

Westfield, MA — A total of 1,390 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s Fall/Winter 2023 All-Academic team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Athletic Department, led by Athletic Director Michael Mudd, is pleased to announce the hiring of Adam Howarth as the new Men’s Soccer Head Coach. Howarth will serve as the 16th head coach in the program’s 55 storied year history and will take over for Aidan Abolfazli who led the team to a 2022 MASCAC Championship and NCAA first round appearance.

Worcester, MA- Senior Matthew Alzamora (Holden, MA) leads the Worcester State Men’s Soccer team in this years MASCAC All-Conference Awards voted on at the end of the season by the conference coaches. Two other teammates joined Alzamora, junior Declan Ryder (Worcester, MA) and sophomore Brendan Lower (Grafton, MA) as All Conference selections.

The last time the two faced each other was in last season’s quarterfinals, where Worcester won 3-0. The Lancers looked to repeat tonight in a gap of rain showers on John F. Coughlin Field. This afternoon’s game was also played in support of the Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund. The Rosen Cancer Awareness Fund was created by alumni couple Greg Rosen 86' and Pam Rosen 87', which provides robust programming that supports peer-to-peer education regarding early cancer detection.
