WORCESTER, Mass. - The 2019 schedule has been released for the Worcester State University men's soccer team. The 18-game slate features nine games on the newly renovated John F. Coughlin Field.
The Lancers open their season with a non-conference road tilt down the street at WPI on Friday, August 30. The meeting will mark the fourth consecutive season Worcester State opens its season against the Engineers, but will be seeking their first win over their cross-town rivals since 2011.
The men's soccer team will play the very first game on the new turf at Coughlin Stadium, as the Lancers open their home schedule with a Monday, September 2 non-conference matchup against Eastern Nazarene at 7 p.m. The contest opens a three-game homestand for Worcester State, with matchups against Rhode Island College and Western New England also on the early-season slate.
Worcester State opens MASCAC play on the road on Friday, September 20 when the Lancers travel to Mass. Maritime. Worcester State beat the Buccaneers in a 2-1 overtime thriller in last season's regular season finale.
A rematch of last season's MASCAC Quarterfinal, which saw the Lancers take down Westfield State in penalty kicks, comes on the road on Saturday, October 26. In two meetings last season, neither team scored a single goal, both ending in 0-0 draws.
Senior Night will be held on Tuesday, October 29, as the Lancers host Keene State in their final regular season game at Coughlin Field. The regular season will conclude four days later when the Lancers travel to Bridgewater State on Saturday, November 2.
The MASCAC Tournament will begin with the quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 5, followed by the semifinals on November 8 and the championship on November 10.
