Worcester State Men's Ice Hockey Places Fourth in Preseason Coaches Poll

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Ice Hockey Team finished fourth the MASCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Wednesday by the league. The fourth-place finish sees them one spot lower than they finished in the 2021-2022 regular season standings.

The Lancers, who fell in the Quarterfinal game to Salem State last year, are looking to return to the post-season tournament with their eye on the conference championship. Worcester finished fourth in the preseason ranking with 19 points, sitting behind last year’s conference champion Plymouth State with 35 points and five first place votes, Fitchburg State with 31 points and a single first place vote and UMass-Dartmouth with 25 points and single first place vote. The Lancers return All-Conference First Team defender Max Roth. He finished last season with a +/- of -4 and seven goals and nine assists. Falling behind the Lancers is Westfield State, Salem State, and Framingham State in place order.

Worcester State will start their season on October 28 versus Assumption University at 3:40pm, when they kick off the Woo Cup at the Worcester Ice Arena.
