Worcester, MA- Worcester State's men's golf team traveled to Tekoa Country Club in Westfield for a dual match against the host Owls, finishing with a team score of 338 to Westfield State's 330.
The Lancers were powered at the top of the lineup by a pair of co-medalist performances. Junior Nolan Finan (Vernon, CT) and junior Zack Hurley (Feeding Hills, MA) both carded rounds of 79, sharing the best score in the entire field and demonstrating the kind of elite individual play Worcester State is capable of on any given day. Their efforts at the top gave the Lancers two players in the top spot out of all competitors across both teams.
Junior Jon Wasserman (Salem, MA) contributed an 86 to round out the team's counting scores, finishing 8th in the combined field. First year Sean Tyrie (East Quogue, NY) and junior Sal Carabelli (Shelby Township, MI) also made the trip and gained valuable experience on the challenging par-71 layout at 6,438 yards.
Worcester State finished just eight strokes behind Westfield State, a competitive margin that speaks to the team's potential as the season rolls on.
