Worcester State: 75
Wesleyan: 83
How it Happened:
The Lancers began their matchup against Wesleyan strong with an opening three-pointer by Senior Ayme Daguilh (West Boylston, MA). During this stretch, both teams traded shots but the Cardinals mostly maintained their lead, holding off the aggressive attack of the Lancers. Worcester State hit some big threes from sophomore Rayan Sablon (Stoughton, MA) and got a few handy layups as they tried to close the gap. Despite the Lancers' best efforts, Wesleyan did a good job responding to the Lancers' persistence and held a 41-35 lead as they went to halftime.
In the second half, Worcester State continued to fight as they maintained their position in the game. Daguilh, senior Samuel Batista (Peabody, MA), and sophomore Joe Okla (Worcester, MA) hit some big threes as they continued to cut into the Wesleyan lead. Worcester State did a good job on rebounds but missed some crucial layups down the stretch and as well as some costly turnovers, as they dropped this one 83-75.
Daguilh would lead the Lancers with 20 points while Sabalon would claim nine rebounds in the action.
What's Next:
Worcester State (1-5, 0-0) will jump right back into action with a trip to SUNY Poly on Saturday to take on the Wildcats in a 2pm meeting.
