Nkrumah Named to D3hoops.com All-Region First Team

Worcester, MA- Coming on top of an earlier awarded NABC All-District Team selection for junior Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, MA), he also was selected in a repeat performance on the D3hoops.com All Region 1 First Team. Last year Nkrumah was also named the D3hoops.com Rookie of the Year. Over his two years, Nkrumah has accumulated 1,000 points, 430 rebounds, 125 assists with 138 steals to go along with 46 blocks.

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and schools and conferences were each contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 812 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region. 

It's the 23rd season D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams.

The regional Rookie of the Year award honors the top freshman in each region, while D3hoops.com also names a regional Coach of the Year.

Division III basketball is organized into 10 regions. A region with 40 teams or more has three All-Region teams honored, while a region with fewer than 40 teams has a first and second team. This reorganization results in approximately 10 additional players being recognized when compared to full seasons in the eight-region alignment.

Players from these lists are eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams. The teams will be released March 16, at the national championship game.

Coach of the Year: James Cosgrove, Trinity (Conn.)
Rookie of the Year: Kobe Long, G, SUNY Cobleskill
