Men’s Basketball Finished Second in MASCAC Preseason Coaches Poll Announced
Worcester, MA - The Worcester State Men’s Basketball Team finished second the MASCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Friday by the league. The second-place finish sees the Lancers move up a spot from their third-place regular season finish but matches their post season finish of second in the conference.
Worcester, MA - The Worcester State Men’s Basketball Team finished second the MASCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced Friday by the league. The second-place finish sees the Lancers move up a spot from their third-place regular season finish but matches their post season finish of second in the conference.
The Lancers, who fell to Westfield State in a MASCAC final last season, look to improve from their 9-3 conference record and bring home the championship this year. Worcester finished with 31 points and a single first place vote, while defending champions Westfield State finished with 36, and 6 first place votes. The Lancers were 9-3 during the conference clip in 2021-22. Ryan Rubenskas was the 2021-22 MASCAC Rookie of the Year the 2021-22 MASCAC Rookie of the Year after averaging 11.6 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting 50.4 percent from the field with 49 assists, 32 steals and 32 blocks.
Closing out the top four behind Worcester State in the poll was Salem St with 26 points and Fitchburg St with 19 points. The final three places belong to Bridgewater St, MCLA and Framingham St.
The Lancers begin their season on November 8th at 12:01am when they travel to WPI for the Midnight Madness showdown.
