Worcester State Men's Basketball Releases 2022-23 Schedule

Worcester, MA - Worcester State University Men’s Basketball has announced their 2022-23 season schedule. Tyler Hundley returns for his fourth season as the head coach of the Lancer squad. The Lancers finished with an 16-12 (9-3, MASCAC) record and as the #3 seed in the MASCAC Tournament last season. Worcester State looks to continue their MASCAC success when they open conference play on January 4 at Salem State. "Everyone in our program is excited about this season” states Hundley. “We return 4 of 5 starters and have added some impactful new additions. Our guys have been focused and committed, and we all look forward to continuing to get better both individually and collectively each day. If we do these things, we will hopefully give ourselves another chance to play for a MASCAC title."

The Lancers will be led by sophomore Ryan Rubenskas, the MASCAC Rookie of the Year, along with MASCAC First Team selection graduate student Erik Bjorn. Joining them is senior Zion Hendrix and junior Sam Dion along with an all-star cast of returning veterans and a wealth of new talent, geared toward making a return run to the MASCAC Championship game.

This season sees the return of Midnight Madness, an event geared to launching the start of the competition season, between WPI and Worcester State. WPI will host the 12:01am tip-off on November 8. The Lancers continue their road trip at the Wheaton Tip Off where they initially face off against Hunter College. November 15 sees Worcester State hosting their home opener with a Tuesday night square up with Williams. The remainder of November has Worcester going two away and two home, traveling to Rhode Island College and Gordon before returning to face Western New England and Wesleyan.

December has a five-game slate to close out 2022 with trips to Lasell and Emerson, before a three-game home stretch that brings Lesley, Regis and Wentworth to Brissette Court.

2023 not only begins a new year, but the start of the MASCAC schedule with an initial trip to Salem State before the Bridgewater Bears and Westfield Owls journey to Worcester to start off the home MASCAC schedule of games. The remainder of the schedule has the Lancers traveling two away before hosting their own two in Worcester. The travel sees the team on the road to Fitchburg State, MCLA, a second game versus Bridgewater and Westfield, before concluding the season on the road at Framingham St. The Lancers will be welcoming to Brissette during this stretch, Framingham State on January 25, for what will be the Lancer Nation Night, Salem State, Fitchburg State. Their final home game of the 2022-23 season versus MCLA on February 15, will also honor the program's seniors.
