Final
Worcester State: 2
Westfield State: 4
How it Happened:
It would be as intense as expected between these two foes in the Championship game. Westfield would get the action started early just four minutes into the game, but it would take just another five minutes for sophomore Emily Curran (Fall River, MA) would record her first goal of the season after collecting an attempt by first year Kaylie Ciccone (Douglas, MA) that was knocked clear by the Owls keeper. Westfield would look to get the lead back in the first, but a tie game would settle into the second, where it would take the Owls just two minutes to grab the 2-1 lead that would hold into halftime, even with Worcester on a concerted attack for most of the quarter.
Curran would continue her magic in the second half, tying the game up in just under two minutes, on a stroke that was awarded to the Lancers. Westfield would push back quickly though, and grab the third goal to reclaim control. Worcester remained aggressive, attacking the circle continuously, and nearly settling the score again numerous times in the remainder of the action, but in their last attempts, the Owls managed to wrestle control and add one final securing goal to claim the 4-2 victory.
Sophomore Lizzy MacDonald (Medford, MA) recorded 11 saves in the action for Worcester.
Worcester wraps up their season with an impressive run to the MASCAC Championship for their second time in three years.
